Ever wish you could just sit down with a podcast strategist, mom to mom, and ask all those podcasting questions that keep you up at night?
Like…
✨ “Do I need a big audience to start a podcast?”
✨ “How do I stay consistent when life is so unpredictable?”
✨ “Is anyone even listening?”
If these questions have ever swirled in your brain, this post is for you. I’m answering the most common podcasting questions I get from moms—real, raw, and unfiltered.
Whether you’re thinking of starting a show or already have one that needs a little love, you’ll walk away from this episode with clarity, confidence, and maybe even a few “aha” moments.
Q1: Do I need a big audience to start a podcast?
Let’s kick off with one of the most frequent podcasting questions I hear—Do I need a large audience before I launch? Nope!
What you do need is clarity: who you’re talking to, how you help them, and why your message matters.
Podcasting is actually one of the best ways to grow your audience because it creates a deeper connection than social media ever could. You’re literally in someone’s earbuds—there’s nothing more personal than that.
So don’t wait to “be big enough.” Start now, serve well, and the growth will follow.
Q2: How do I stay consistent when life is chaotic?
This is the holy grail of podcasting questions for moms, right?
Here’s my no-fluff answer: I plan like a CEO and record like a mom.
That means I batch when I can, record in short sprints, and always keep a backup episode or two ready in case life throws a curveball. (Which, let’s be real, it always does.)
I also use tools like ChatGPT and Descript to save time and energy. And inside my membership, Moms Behind the Mic Society, I teach an entire system for sustainable content planning that works with your life.
Consistency doesn’t mean publishing weekly forever. It means finding a rhythm that’s realistic for you and sticking with it.
Q3: Is podcasting still worth it with all the algorithm changes?
Oh, this is one of those podcasting questions that gets asked with a hint of doubt. And my answer is a loud, confident YES.
Your podcast is your platform. You own it. It’s not subject to algorithm changes, shadow bans, or disappearing reach.
Podcasts are searchable, bingeable, and evergreen. An episode you published months ago can still be driving traffic and leads today. That’s the kind of ROI social media just can’t touch.
So if you’re wondering whether podcasting is still worth your time—trust me, it is.
Q4: How do I make money from my podcast without sponsors?
This is one of the most exciting podcasting questions I get because there are so many ways to monetize that don’t involve chasing sponsorships.
Here are three powerful self-monetization strategies I recommend:
1. Self-Sponsored Ad Segments
Promote your own offers during your show. Treat it like a traditional ad read, but for your services, products, or programs.
2. Lead Magnets + Funnels
Use your podcast to grow your email list, then convert subscribers into buyers through a strategic funnel.
3. Affiliate Marketing
Share products or tools you love and earn commissions through your referral links—just be sure it’s aligned and authentic.
Once you’ve nailed these, sponsorships can be a nice add-on—but they don’t need to be your main focus.
Q5: What if I start a podcast and no one listens?
This might be one of the most vulnerable podcasting questions of all and one I hear often from moms just getting started.
Here’s what I want you to remember: Every successful podcaster started with 0 downloads. Everyone.
Some of the shows I’ve launched had fewer than 10 downloads on their first episodes. Now, some of those same shows get thousands of listens per month. Why? Because they kept going.
When you show up consistently and speak to that one listener as if she matters (because she does), she’ll keep coming back and she’ll tell her friends too.
That’s how the snowball begins.
Final Thoughts: Keep Asking the Right Podcasting Questions
